A GSC bronze tablet set vertically in cement on top of a 10 centimetre diameter steel pipe. The pipe is installed approximately 4.5 metres into the ground and projects approximately 1 metre above the surface. The steel pipe is surrounded above the surface by a 30 centimetre corregated steel pipe filled and surrounded by gravel. It is located near the edge of the hilltop overlooking Dumbell Bay at the Canadian Forces Station at Alert, NU. It is located approximately 125 metres east of the DOE Hydrogen building and approximately 10 metres northeast of the Canadian Hydrographic Service gauging station building.
